RaraaS
A remote agricultural robotics service that lets you participate in farming from anywhere
About
Participating in agriculture remotely
RaraaS (Remote Agricultural Robot as a Service) is a remote agricultural robot service that provides users with the sensation of actually performing farm work, even from a distance.
Unlike conventional remote control systems that rely solely on video feeds and operational instructions, RaraaS reflects the operator’s body movements and the amount of force applied (proprioception) in the robot’s movements, delivering an intuitive and highly immersive operating experience.
Solution
Toward an Agriculture Where You Can Work from Anywhere, Guided by Your Senses
The agricultural sector faces multiple social challenges, including a declining and aging workforce, urban population concentration, and limited employment opportunities for people who find it difficult to leave their homes due to disabilities or illness.
Furthermore, traditional robot operation required specialized knowledge and was not accessible to everyone. RaraaS utilizes BodySharing technology and 5G to enable intuitive, user-friendly remote operation by controlling robots based on body sensations captured by FirstVR.
This provides an environment where people can participate in agriculture regardless of location or physical limitations, thereby encouraging the participation of young people and those who have difficulty leaving their homes.
Furthermore, it creates a new labor system that connects urban and rural areas, contributing to expanded employment opportunities and higher wages for people with disabilities.
Through remote work, RaraaS promotes “agriculture-welfare collaboration” that bridges agriculture and social welfare, aiming to realize a sustainable society.
Feature
Intuitive Robot Control Based on Bodily Sensations
Body movements and force data captured by FirstVR are transmitted to the robot in real time, enabling intuitive remote operation even without specialized knowledge.
Remote Farming Operations
Agricultural tasks such as harvesting are performed in real time using robots deployed on farmland.
This enables remote work without the need to visit the site.
