[“Body Sharing” Expanding Across Diverse Scenarios]

A Wide Range of Applications for the Capsule Interface

No Need to Travel for Business Trips

No problem if a sudden business trip comes up! Connect to a robot at your destination from a Capsule Interface installed at home or a nearby workplace. Your colleagues or business partners might be surprised, but why not go on a business trip via a humanoid robot?

Carrying Cargo at Heights or Up Stairs

Delivery personnel can perform transport tasks using a remote robot without moving their own bodies. This helps reduce physical strain.

Remote Operations in Disaster Zones and Hazardous Areas

Perform tasks such as debris removal and landmine clearance from a safe location, even in environments where human access is difficult.

Interaction and Expression via Avatars

Utilize the technology for communication and performances in virtual spaces.

Household Support

Provide remote support for household chores such as cooking and cleaning via the capsule interface and robots. This reduces the burden on the elderly and dual-income households while supporting daily life.

Agricultural Support

Operate agricultural robots remotely via the Capsule Interface. By sharing skilled techniques—such as plowing and harvesting—in real time, this technology helps alleviate labor shortages and reduce the workload.

[A New Experience: Transmitting Full-Body Information While Sitting or Lying Down]

The Capsule Interface is an experience-sharing device that can directly transmit “internal body” information—such as body movements and the amount of force applied—to another body, such as a robot or avatar.

The Capsule Interface is a system comprising muscle displacement sensors, speakers, and a display. It can be installed on various chairs or beds. Users sit or lie on their backs and, by moving their limbs slightly, transmit their movements and force levels to another body (such as a robot or avatar). At the same time, it transmits audiovisual information to and from the other body.

Unlike conventional robot or avatar interfaces, no wearable devices, special controls, or training are required. Users can connect with a remote body while sitting or lying down in a comfortable position.

The experience of having bodily information “delivered” exactly as it is will transform the nature of communication, work, education, and entertainment.

We plan to research and develop technology to provide haptic feedback to users within the Capsule Interface, and expect further applications in fields such as education, entertainment, and healthcare.

[Company Profile]

H2L Inc. https://h2l.jp
Established in July 2012. With the goal of sharing experiences, the company conducts research and development, as well as business development, for BodySharing®—a next-generation sensory sharing technology that follows in the footsteps of audiovisual technology. Our main products include PossessedHand®, selected by TIME magazine as one of the “50 Inventions That Will Change the Future in 2011”; UnlimitedHand®, which enables gesture and proprioceptive input/output for computers; and FirstVR®, which allows for easy gesture and proprioceptive input via a smartphone. H2L’s strengths lie in technologies that detect hand movements and proprioception from muscle bulges, and technologies that transmit proprioceptive feedback by applying multi-electrode electrical stimulation to the arm. By combining these technologies with avatar synthesis and teleoperated robots, we are working to realize BodySharing®.
